Sony A7S II Mirrorless Body Only merupakan kamera yang mempunyai spesifikasi khusus untuk videografi karena kualitas video yang dihasilkan sangat bagus baik format Full HD ataupun 4K. Fitur video yang biasanya hanya tersedia di kamera video pro juga tersedia di Sony A7S II ini seperti S Log Gamma 3, Gamma Assist display, slow motion Full HD. Sony A7S II juga memiliki rentang ISO sangat tinggi mencapai ISO 409.600 yang memungkinkan merekam video atau mengambil foto dalam keadaan yang sangat gelap.

Dengan sensor 12 MP ditujukan untuk lebih optimal ketika merekam video 4K dan Full HD dalam format full frame, karena memungkinkan full pixel read-out tanpa pixel binning. Sebagai perbandingan, kualitas video 4K format full frame di Sony A7R II kurang bagus / standard. Hanya saat mengunakan format super 35mm (faktor krop sekitar 1.4-1.5x) video 4K-nya sangat bagus dan tajam.
